Lakers trade for Caruso's expiring contract by sending Gabe Vincent, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and a 2025 1st round pick (flips to 2024 1st round pick if Pelicans decide to defer). JHS was the 17th pick in the 2023 NBA draft and PG rookie prospect is something Bulls need as they look to rebuild.

Bulls do this to accelerate their rebuild by maximizing the return for Caruso. The Bulls will continue to unload players for draft compensation as part of their rebuild; I expect they will heavily shop their guards (Lavine, Ball, White, Dosunmu, Carter) since that position is overloaded. I also expect there to be a bidding war for Caruso, so Lakers may need to add one or more 2nd round pick.
