This assumes that Pelicans choose to defer the Lakers 1st round pick to 2025, thus allowing Lakers to trade the 2024 pick on draft day.

Lakers trade for Caruso's expiring contract by sending Gabe Vincent, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and a 2024 1st round pick. JHS was the 17th pick in the 2023 NBA draft and PG rookie prospect is something Bulls need as they look to rebuild. They also get a 2024 1st round pick.

Bulls do this to accelerate their rebuild by maximizing the return for Caruso. The Bulls will continue to unload players for draft compensation, especially their guards (Lavine, Ball, White, Dosunmu, Carter)
